The document that permits foreign nationals to study in Denmark is referred to as “residence permit” instead of “student visa”. Remember this even if we use the terms interchangeably in this post. Now, who needs a residence permit?

  • EU/EEA and Switzerland nationals have to put in for an EU residence document, not a residence permit
  • Non-EU/EEA and Switzerland citizens have to apply for the residence permit

You can make an application for the residence permit through the official New to Denmark website.
