Job Description

  • If an emergency occurs, caries out prompt action as Team Leader or member of the Emergency Response Team which is deployed promptly to create UNICEF’s presence and execute the initial operational tasks relating to emergency assistance.
  • Assesses local conditions resulting from the emergency situation affecting children and their families in the country.
  • Helps the Chief of Field Office (Borno) and Nigeria Country Office Senior Management in emergency situations oversight and program management to make sure that the funding, management, budget, reporting, and field presence organization are run efficiently and effectively with succinct accountabilities.
  • Prepares inputs for appeals and updates related to emergencies as well as project proposals for an emergency.
  • Establishes longer-term requirements of the emergency operation/interventions.
  • Makes sure that disaster mitigation, prevention, preparedness and response tactics are mainstreamed in the nation office’s work plans.
  • Other duties as specified.

  • Education: Advanced University degree in one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Public Administration, Law, Nutrition, Public Health, Business Administration, International Relations, or other related disciplines.
  • Work Experience: Eight (8) years of continuously responsible professional work experience at the national and international stages, comprising in complex emergency response management in conflict areas, program development,  humanitarian coordination, planning, execution, monitoring, assessment, and administration.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required.
