In reaction to the issue of COVID-19 and to offer financial relief to our students, the University of Minnesota is offering the Global Excellence Scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic session. At this university, candidates will obtain an exciting and challenging education during their study time. Students can meet with careers advisers who can help them in exploring options and information advisers.
All foreign freshmen and transfer candidates who finish their applications for fall admission by the closing dates are automatically given consideration for a Global Excellence Scholarship. For the 2020-2021 academic year, international freshmen can receive freshman scholarships of $25,000, $15,000 or $10,000 per year for up to four years. Transfer students may obtain $10,000 each year for up to three years when enrolling at the university in the fall semester. Transfer students enrolling in the spring semester will be given consideration for scholarship awards on a funds-available basis. Awards are competitive and based on academic merit. Candidates chosen for these awards are among the best in their class and display a record of very strong academic readiness. There is no separate scholarship award application needed; students are given consideration based on an overall evaluation of their on-time admission application. Candidates have to maintain their F-1 immigration status to remain qualified for these conditions.
