Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship at NTI in Australia 2022

The new Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship for international students is now available at Nan Tien Institute (NTI) to study in Australia. These awards help high achieving foreign students to undergo Applied Buddhist Studies programs.

The awards lay strong importance on social inclusion and equity and are granted on the basis of financial hardship and/or other hardship. Some also acknowledge factors like academic excellence.

Established in 2011, within the grounds of the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple, in Wollongong, New South Wales, Nan Tien Institute (NTI) is a privately-owned, non-profit, higher learning provider offering education in the fields of arts, health, mindfulness and wellbeing.

Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: October 15, 2021
  • Course Level: The awards are obtainable to pursue Master degree program.
  • Study Subject: The awards are granted to study the following programs:
  • Master of Arts (Applied Buddhist Studies)
  • Graduate Diploma of Applied Buddhist Studies
  • Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies
  • Scholarship Award: Each award will cover the following:
  • Tuition fees for the program of study at NTI;
  • Twin share lodging at the Pilgrim Lodge of Nan Tien Temple;
  • Vegetarian meals offered by Nan Tien Temple.

The Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship award does not cover the expense of visa application, health check or health cover, travel insurance, living costs, books or any other extra costs associated with residing in Australia or study at NTI or accompaniment by family members.

The award is not transferable or exchangeable for cash, should the beneficiary choose to find their own off-campus housing or cover/purchase their own meals.

An extra weekly payment is charged if the scholarship beneficiary wishes to upgrade the twin share lodging to a single room.

  • Nationality: These opportunities are obtainable for foreign students.
  • Number of Scholarships: There are ten (10) scholarship awards obtainable to recipients over two (2) semesters yearly.

Entrance Conditions: Candidates should meet the following conditions:

The candidate should have been admitted or been granted admission to one of the following Applied Buddhist Studies programs at NTI:

  • Master of Arts (Applied Buddhist Studies)
  • Graduate Diploma of Applied Buddhist Studies
  • Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies

The candidate should be a national of an overseas nation (excluding New Zealand), and not normally live in Australia.

English Language Requirements: Candidates should meet the institute’s English Language conditions.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be on the basis of academic merit, reasons for undergoing the program, interview performance if needed. The decision on scholarship will be made by the HYEF Selection Panel.

Candidates are expected to submit their application for admission to NTI before applying for the Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship award. The number allocated to the online application for admission or present student ID has to be indicated. Otherwise, the scholarship award application is considered unfinished and will not be considered further.

How to Apply for Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship

A filled out International application Form and all the supporting documentation must be emailed to scholarships-at-nantien.edu.au by the deadline. They cannot consider late submissions.

Duration and Terms

  • Successful applicants have to maintain a full-time “international student” standing for the entire length of the Scholarship award. 
  • The Hsing Yun Education Foundation Scholarship award cannot be deferred or transferred to another program of study at NTI. Successful applicants have to commence study at NTI in the semester for which the scholarship award is provided. The scholarship award is tenable for the minimum period needed by the beneficiary to complete the program of study.
  • The scholarship award is granted and monitored based on academic merit. It will be renewed automatically if the beneficiary attains a minimum of a ‘credit’ grade average for the subjects taken in each semester and keep acceptable overall academic performance.
  • The Scholarship may not, without the approval of the HYEF Selection Committee be held concurrently with any other award.
