International Awards at Technical University of Munich in Germany 2020

Here we would like to inform you about the International Awards at the Technical University of Munich for international students.

General information 

  • TUM grants scholarship awards for foreign students funded via budget resources from the Bavarian government.
  • It is a one-time financial award between €500 and €1,500 each semester. You can reapply every semester.

Eligibility for International Awards at Technical University of Munich

  • who are not eligible for BAföG due to their nationality
  • as of 3rd semester in their bachelor‘s studies
  • as of 2nd semester in their master’s studies (or as of 1st semester in their master’s studies, if the bachelor degree has been concluded at TUM)
  • submission of the bachelor’s essay or master’s dissertation not prior to 30 June (summer term) and 31 December (winter term)

At the time of the leave of absence, the scholarship award won’t be paid.

How to Apply for International Awards at Technical University of Munich

Please get the following documents ready for upload (pdf files):

  • Motivational letter
    Please clarify your financial standing (100-200 words in English or German)
  • CV/resume
  • TUM grade report
  • two recommendations
    • not older than one semester (Recommendations issued in the previous semester are valid for this application)
  • Proof of the applicant’s income
    • bank statements of the last three months of all German bank accounts
      (winter term: 01 July – 30 September and summer term: 01 January – 31 March)  International Awards at Technical University of Munich
      If there are incoming payments, please explain directly on the bank account statement what kind of payment it is
      (for example, salary, parents support, scholarship, loan…)
    • and further documents if applicable (work contract, internship contract, scholarship notification, loan contract, BAföG notification, etc.)
  • evidence of parents’ income or evidence of income of partner if applicable
    • if not in German or English language, a certified German translation is required by a sworn translator (with an official seal!)
    • not older than one year
