The University of Memphis in the USA is pleased to award international merit scholarship awards to high achieving individuals who are willing to undergo a degree program at the Institution.
The University of Memphis (UofM) selectively grants competitive merit-based scholarship awards for freshly admitted degree-seeking foreign students on a J-1 or F-1 visa. This scholarship award is structured to assist international students who enroll and take classes on the UofM campus as they work toward obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree program. They value scholarly achievement and academic success and want to attract the best and brightest students to join our cutting-edge programs and to learn from our world-renowned faculty.

Eligibility for International Merit Awards at University of Memphis
- For an undergraduate degree program, candidates are required to possess 24 ACT or 1180 SAT equivalent or 3.25 U.S.A. equivalent undergraduate degree GPA as adjudged by a credential evaluation agency
- For graduate degree program, candidates must possess 300 GRE or equivalent on other tests or 3.0 U.S.A. equivalent undergraduate degree GPA as adjudged by a credential evaluation agency (www.naces.org) or related master’s degree from a recognized and approved institution.
- Applicants need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English.
Please note: Dual nationals and/or permanent residents are not qualified for this scholarship award.
How to Apply for International Merit Awards at University of Memphis
Applicants are required to secure admission to an undergraduate degree program and a master’s degree program at the university. After that, they can apply for this award.
Scholarship award amounts vary and can possibly cover the difference in the expense of foreign and domestic non-Tennessee resident tuition rates. This scholarship award cannot be joined with other UofM institutional scholarship awards. Exceptions are allowed for departmental funding.
