Job Position – National Program Officer (MHPSS)

Job Description

  • Support execution of psychosocial support activities through complete coordination of the psychosocial support (PSS) mobile teams available, including the development of work plans of team members, coordinating their posting and monitoring of activities to make sure of achievements of targets.
  • Provide managerial direction and supervision to the PSS teams through weekly supervisions, on the job training and field monitoring.
  • Provide direct MHPSS technical assistance, either directly or as in-service supervision for the teams in working closely with MHPSS manager and program technical staff.
  • Liaise with necessary stakeholders in relation to the project activities, including representing IOM in relevant sector working group meetings.
  • Ensure unity of reports from the PSS teams and provide contributions for weekly and bi-weekly reports.
  • Ascertain the keeping of proper documentation and filing systems of project activities
  • Engage in the development of new projects along with the project officer based on noted needs during project implementation.

Job Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Psychology, Counseling or Social Sciences.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the above fields with a minimum of two years of professional work experience and participation in IOM corporate training in MHPSS…
  • Credible experience working with national and international NGOs in executing cross-border activities.
  • Relatable work experience in remote control management of partners.

Job Description

  • Support in building IOM Nigeria shelter response options, which are delicate to the context and culture of affected geographic locations and populations.
  • Contribute to an organized shelter delivery in the areas of intervention by making sure shelter response is enhanced by other essential services.
  • Assist in designing and carrying out needs assessments related to shelter response in different areas including camps, camp-like settings, and host communities.
  • Examine data from assessments and Post Distribution Monitoring evaluations for directing rich programming choices.
  • Build and keep effective project progress trackers and project monitoring tools.
  • Assist in recognizing important locations for rapid shelter response.
  • Liaise with Logistics and Procurement Unit on the supply of program items and support in the bidding process.
  • Contribute to enhancing Standard Operating Procedures for different activities executed by the IOM Shelter unit.
  • Support the capacity building of the shelter team through tutoring courses and close mentoring.
  • Assist in reporting all shelter activities for both internal and external audiences.

Job Requirements

  • Should have a Master’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related course of study from a reputable institution of learning with 2 years of relevant professional work experience or a University degree in the above-stated fields with 4 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Experience in shelter programming in complex emergencies both in camp settings and host community situation is essential;
  • Credible experience with handling budget and elaborate shelter programmes;
  • In-depth Knowledge of social and development issues and also general migration-related issues.
  • Fluent use of English is required both verbal and written. Familiar with French and/or Spanish is an advantage.

Job Description

  • Support the execution of the Displacement Tracking Matrix programme (DTM) components including the Baseline Area/Location Assessment, Site Assessment and Biometric Registration for internally displaced people (IDPs).
  • Develop, manage and maintain a registration and categorization database and an Information Counseling and Referral Service (ICRS) database application system as per requirements set by the DDRR programme.
  • Monitor the beginning of the system, supporting users, and set up contingencies for problems, preparing also a budget and maintenance plan for short and long-run and a work plan for development, quality control, rollout, full implementation and management of the application, preventing.
  • Create and supervise the design of database system upgrade, web portals and interoperability procedures for distribution of DTM data to interested parties.
  • Identify, implement, and enhance relevant methodological, operational and technological solutions relating to the DTM and DDRR implementation.
  • Ensure information management tools and operational frameworks for data collection are properly shaped and implemented.
  • Organize  training for Government and local implementing partners IM system administrators/managers/interviewers staff
  • Secure continuously available computer services, support training, and maintenance of all computer systems used for information database systems.
  • Make sure of the provision of prompt, precise and sufficient information to all relevant stakeholders regarding needs, movements and new displacements.
  • Make sure of the execution of IOM ITC Standards and guidelines, especially with regards to the databases and information systems being implemented.

Job Requirements

  • Should have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Social Science, Information Management or a related field from a reputable university with 5 years of professional work experience.
  • A University degree in the above fields with 7 years of professional work experience.
  • In-depth Knowledge of disaster risk management.
  • Excellent use of two or more of Relational Database Management Systems such as MS Access, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle is an advantage.
  • Credible Experience in the creation and execution of population database systems.
  • Relatable work experience in international organizations, the humanitarian community and familiar with the humanitarian reform and cluster approach.
  • Experience in project management and implementation;

Job Description

  • Monitors the day-to-day case management of reintegration assistance.
  • Support the Senior Project Assistant M&E in preparing the beneficiary profile and needs assessment formats and make sure of regular updates.
  • Assist in going over the conditions of the business plan as regarding the AVRR program.
  • Carry out a field monitoring visits to the beneficiaries’ areas of return, as well as community-based reintegration target areas.
  • Document and update all beneficiaries’ cases in a database for reference.

Job Description

  • Assist in the timely execution of awareness raising initiatives to fight irregular migration and advance safe and regular migration in chosen communities and make sure that information gets to the targeted audience.
  • Provide general support to build and distribute tools, materials, guidelines, and training on advancing safe migration in Nigeria.
  • Assist in maintaining close interaction with community groups, local government authorities, CSOs, and other stakeholders to make sure of due organization of activities.
  • Create communication mediums in which stories from migrants and returnees can be used to showcase the change in behavior in the relevant communities.
  • Assist senior project staff to establish communication channels with which information on awareness-raising can be shared.

Job Requirements

  • Credible and relatable work experience in designing social campaigns in international and crisis contexts.
  • A minimum of four years of work experience (for candidates holding bachelor’s degrees) in the above-specified fields, preferably in the West Africa Region.
  • Strong organizational and editorial skills;
  • Previous experience in training and capacity building interventions preferred;

  • Knowledge of/interest in social and development issues as well as general migration-related issues;
