Job Position – Governance & Influencing Officer

Job Description for Governance & Influencing Officer – Job Openings at Oxfam Nigeria

  • Lead the building and deployment of the LINE project’s advocacy.
  • Liaise with the other Project Officers to make sure advocacy is rooted in all LINE project activities.
  • Create a supervising framework that tracks, and records changes and impacts related to advocacy.
  • Give suggestions to the Project Management Unit on the improvement of reactive and opportunistic policy statements as expected.
  • Create and advance relationships with relevant high profile influencers.
  • Be a representative for the LINE project at public events and in the media.
  • Make sure that LINE Project advocacy and influencing work assisted through local partners are embedded in Oxfam country office advocacy.
  • Recognize any potential impact of LINE Project’s advocacy or influencing or campaigning on our local partners and advise the PMU.
  • Pay business visits to partners as required.
  • Work closely with all relevant parts of the project as appropriate to make sure that tasks are delivered as required.
  • Engage actively in the wider LINE project team by offering assistance as required.
  • Will be required to travel and represent the LINE project at appropriate forums, both nationally and internationally.
  • Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity; variety; gender; child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles.

Job Requirements for Governance & Influencing Officer – Job Openings at Oxfam Nigeria

  • Should have a University degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Credible Experience in creating and implementing policy advocacy strategies and imparting policy change.
  • Familiar with working with senior influencers.
  • Excellent knowledge of building popular campaign materials.
  • Able to record change and lessons gained through success stories, case studies, and learning manuals.

Job Description for Head of Programs – Job Openings at Oxfam Nigeria

  • Coordinate programme strategy development;
  • provide strategic and technical leadership for the Oxfam Country Strategies (OCS)
  • Give standard technical advice and assist on all policy issues and encourage the improvement and delivery of high-quality programmes with strong gender justice and MEAL components across all programmes.
  • Ensure adequate resourcing allocated within budgets
  • Provide direct and close leadership ensuring that women rights and women leadership are at the core of Oxfam’s work in Nigeria
  • Working closely with the Business Development Officer.
  • Ensure the delivery of a country program with demonstrable impact and value for money.
  • Ensure that programmes implemented in a consultative, participative and gender sensitive way and meets Oxfam’s quality standards.
  • Provide oversight to partner portfolio, ensuring the identification of both implementing and strategic partners,

  • Should have an Advanced Master degree in one of the following: International Relations/ Development Studies; Public Administration; Economics; Project Management; Humanitarian Aid or other related fields of study.
  • At least 10 years of proven program management experience, with a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of development programs
  • Demonstrable experience in managing multidisciplinary projects and programmes with significant budgets,
  • Relatable experience in managing change processes and relationships involving various internal and external multi-cultural stakeholders.
  • Strong people management skills to coordinate the Nigeria program team to deliver on the OCS objectives.
  • Politically intelligent, with an in-depth understanding of key external organizations, how they function and make decisions, and the country development context.
  • Devoted to and has excellent knowledge of creating a partner-led operational environment.
  • Proven track record of making sound judgment in uncertain and pressurized situations.
  • Ability to anticipate and manage risks that could threaten the organizations’ reputation.

Job Description for Gender Coordinator – Job Openings at Oxfam Nigeria

  • Lead the implementation of the gender action plan according to OXFAM’s Country Strategy and commitments to gender transformative programming.
  • Go over rapid gender analysis and update regularly as required.
  • Carry out gender analysis and power mapping across our programs to explore and address the underlying causes of women’s vulnerability to household abuses
  • Facilitate and support the integration of gender perspectives in the programming across sectors and advise the Leadership Team on challenges and solutions.
  • Review project plans and budgets to ensure that adequate attention is paid to the promotion of gender equality.
  • Examine project proposals to make sure they are gender sensitive and include budget lines for gender activities.

  • Actively work with national programs and partners to build the research capacity of Country Program teams and Partners’ staff
  • Lead the development and management of projects and programs in order to create verifiable social impact and value for money for Oxfam and the founding donor.
