University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship for International Students in Canada 2019 is presently accepting applications from qualified students. See this post for the requirements and how to apply.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies provides over $2 million dollars in University Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) every year to full-time graduate scholars (Master’s and Ph.D.) to distinguish academic excellence. It is granted to scholars who have proven superior intellectual ability and strong academic achievement.

The Region of Manitoba via the office of the Minister of Education and Training backs the Manitoba Graduate Scholarship (MGS) with yearly funding of $2.1 million. As part of its commitment to providing new post-secondary education, funds are used by the University of Manitoba to ensure that Manitoba’s best students continued their education at home, to nurture research that led to economic development, and to entice excellent Master’s scholars to study in Manitoba.

Eligibility for University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship for International Students in Canada 2019

Students must have a minimum admission GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the award. Please contact your Department as they may have a higher GPA requirement.

To hold an award:
Students must have been admitted as a full-time student without provision or have cleared provisional admission as a Master’s or Ph.D. scholar in a graduate course at the University of Manitoba.

Value and Duration

UMGF Master’s awards are valued at $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, up to a total of $28,000.

UMGF Doctoral grants are evaluated at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, up to an aggregate of $72,000.

MGS Master’s grants are evaluated at $15,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, up to an aggregate of $30,000.

Departments/Units determine the value and duration of an award and must meet the eligibility criteria as outlined in the eligibility table.

How to Apply for University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship for International Students in Canada 2019

Please refer to your Department/Unit for the application procedure and closing date. As soon as the Department/Unit decides on their selection, scholars are recommended to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. FGS will notify the award recipients with an official letter via email.
