A scholarship financed by the University of Newcastle or the Commonwealth Government offers a yearly living stipend of $27,596 each year (2019 rate – indexed yearly). The grants for international students encompass the expense of tuition fees, and in some cases comprise the expense of obligatory Overseas Student Health Cover. All local students have their fees paid by the RTP, to a maximum of 4 years for Ph.D. students and 2 years for MPhil students.

Eligibility for the University of Newcastle Scholarships for International Students

To be eligible you must:

  • attain the English Language Proficiency Requirement(IELTS of at least 6.5; 7.0 in some courses);
  • attain the admission conditions for the degree you are putting in for – MPhil or Ph.D.;
  • possess backing from the School you will be registered with, i.e. the designated supervisor in the form of a Pre-Identified Candidate (PIC) code.

A decision of your scholarship will be made together with your degree application. The evaluation takes into consideration your academic qualifications, research history, and previous experience.
